Benjamin Wolaver

Benjamin Wolaver is a cellist, actor, writer, and philosopher whose life's work is animated by a single driving passion: the imaginative search for truth. Equal parts artist and thinker, he brings rare intellectual depth to everything he touches — from the concert stage to the classroom to the screen.

Benjamin began studying cello at Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music at age four, and at ten was accepted into the Juilliard Pre-College Program, where he studied under Ann Alton. At thirteen, he co-founded the Annie Moses Band with his siblings, launching what would become a decades-long run of touring across America, Asia, and Europe. The Band has performed at Carnegie Hall and the Grand Ole Opry, released chart-topping albums including American Rhapsody and Tales from My Grandpa's Pulpit, and starred in two celebrated PBS specials — the record-breaking Christmas with the Annie Moses Bandand the Emmy-nominated The Art of the Love Song.

On screen, Benjamin stars in The Wonderful World of Benjamin Cello, the beloved hit children's television series created by his mother Robin Wolaver, which has accumulated thousands of hours of streaming across multiple platforms. On stage, his acting credits span a wide range of beloved musical theatre classics — including Annie Get Your Gun, The Gift of the Magi, Annie, The Music Man, and a memorable turn as Fagin in Oliver! — as well as the starring role of Ebenezer Scrooge in Merry Christmas, Uncle Scrooge!, a new Broadway-style musical adaptation of the Dickens classic.

A graduate of the University of London with a B.A. in English Literature — and recipient of the Academic Achievement Award for his essays in Renaissance Comedy — Benjamin is a professed Third Order Dominican. He teaches aesthetics and theology at the Conservatory of Annie Moses and is at work on a book on aesthetics. An active writer, he has also collaborated with his father, Bill Wolaver, on two children's musicals.
